Makes 1, 9x9 inch pan | Prep: 20 min | Bake: 20-25 min | Oven: 350°

INGREDIENTS

For the batter

  • 2 ½ cups all purpose flour

  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1 tablespoon dry lavender

  • 2 sticks butter, browned

  • 1 ½ cups brown sugar

  • ½ cup granulated sugar

  • 3 eggs

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla bean paste, or extract

  • 1 tablespoon dry lavender flowers

For the icing

  • 1 cup powdered sugar

  • 1-2  tablespoon milk

  • Purple food dye (optional)

  • 2 teaspoons dry lavender flowers

INSTRUCTIONS

Prepare your oven and pan

Spray a 9x9 inch baking dish and line it with parchment. Set your oven to 350°

Make your batter

Brown the butter in a medium pot over medium-high heat, then allow it to cool to room temp.

Mix together the flour, baking powder and salt in a small bowl and set it aside.

Into a large bowl, combine the browned butter, brown sugar and granulated sugar and mix well. Add the eggs, one at a time, whisking well between each addition.

Add the vanilla and the lavender flowers and mix them in.

Add the flower and mix just until everything is combined and there are no lumps left.

Bake your Goldies

Transfer the batter to a lined 9x9 inch baking dish and bake at 350* F for about 20-25 minutes or just until the middle is set and they are nicely golden brown all over.

Remove from the oven and allow to cool fully on a wire rack.

Ice and slice your Goldies

To finish, mix the powdered sugar, milk, and food dye in a small bowl. It should be thick enough to hold its shape but thin enough to drizzle.

Drizzle the baked goldies with the icing, then immediately sprinkle with more lavender flowers.

Allow the icing to set up for about an hour before cutting into even squares.
